Beach Walk #142 – Budget Travel in Waikiki

Jerry and Elle are my travel mentors. I’ve known them for about 10 years and I dream of being a world traveler with their level of adventure and comfort. When I first went to Southeast Asia in 1997, they provided me with so many tips on where to stay, who to see, and how to get around.

They travel light – one rolling cart each, and use miles for most of their plane tickets. They have been to Hawaii over 50 times! And have made many friends from around the world, many of whom they see here both by design and by chance, on their return visits.

Beach Walks #150 – Walk With Me and Dream

This show is being released on Sunday, so we have created something of a prayer or meditation for you to enjoy. Please join me for a few Sun Salutations or Surya Namaskar to greet this day. As I stretched into the first back bend with my eyes open to heaven, I saw a waning full moon directly overhead in the deep blue sky. It reminded me of our connection across the many miles of land, sea, and sky. And I smiled at that.

Yoga means “union” so this seemed a natural, reinforcing event. Frequent visitors to Beach Walks will remember Show #116 with my friend Shaina Noll. You can hear one my my favorite songs from Shaina, “Dream” in today’s show. This moving meditation was also inspired by Jen and Kent’s Know Your Dreaming. Beach Walks #147 – You are marvelous!

So much of how I experience aloha is through the generosity of people. It gets expressed in so many ways, and one of them is generous people can be with compliments to others. I have found in my life that it not only feels good to give (and receive) compliments, but it is also quite efficient and effective for meeting many goals. When I steer the canoe, I like to catch us paddlers doing something right, and I find the wa’a moves faster across the water. Granted, I have plenty of moments at work/in life when I feel like shouting “moron!” at someone but really, that’s just the frustration of the #2 who can’t understand the whole picture.
