hmm….my local church here in malaysia had abandoned the usage of amice as well as girdle in the vestment…well, it would be so nice to see such priest with complete vestment…as the priest is going to celebrate the Mass with full of respect towards Him n rightly dresses himself completely and nicely…

just wanna ask…the GIRM doesn’t mention anything about the usage of maniple for Paul VI Mass…does this mean that priests shouldn’t wear it, or he can wear it if he wants to?

My pastor (I am a Lutheran, in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America) recently started wearing an alb similar to ipadre’s but it has a collar that almost looks like monastic hood (which can be worn in place of the amice in traditional settings). The closure, a small, concealed zipper, is covered by his stole, which is of the broad overlay style.

Thanks for the information. Even Catholics forget all these details. It is good to hear it again at 61! Blessings on you!

It is an alb! Some albs have the same cut as a surplice. This is similar to those made by Gamarelli in Rome. The same kind often used by Pope John Paul II

Remember that chastity is not the same thing as celebicy. Celebicy is a specific form of chastity. Even as a married man, you are still called to be chaste.

Sacred vessels should be interesting since I have wondered why at commnion they have the eucharist for distribution in what look like wooden salad bowls sometimes. I prefer a beautiful chalice not a salade plate!

Thank you! I do plan on doing more. Right now I am editing one on the process of guilding and you see a back wall of my sanctuary transformed. I’m also working on one on the sacred vessels. Much more to come!

Excellent video Father! Maybe you can also talk about other liturgical vestments such as the Maniple or Pallium or old practices such as crossing the stole over the breast by the priest, as done in the Classical Rite.

I look forward to more videos! God bless!

Father, I really enjoyed your video, but have a question. I too am producing a video series (my first is already on YouTube entitled “Casting the’Net in Modern Times”) My question is; if the cinture symbolizes chastity, why do permanent deacons wear them? I am a permanent deacon and don’t mind wearing it, but still the question, why?

Again, great video. Awesome name iPadre. Thank you, Deacon John
